Photographer's Note

Lisboa has of course lots of famous sites, belvederes, buildings and great engineering works and during our 5 days stay we haven seen a lot of them. But the thing that attracted us mostly was the atmosphere in the old quarters with their characteristic combination of well kept and weathered buildings, forming a wonderful décor for the slow paced daily life that was the cradle of the fado music. The scene depicted here is shot in the Alfama quarter near the Se (cathedral). The building is located right next to medieval Casa de Bicos. Downstairs is an excellent restaurant and on the floors above is a residential. The bedclothes are dried to be ready for a new batch of travellers.

PCS tech: corrected for perspective distortion; cropped; saturation, contrast and levels adjusted; USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.
