Photographer's Note

Framing a little too tight on the MUDE and presto! Missing the top of the building ...
Museum of Fashion and Design in Lisbon - MUDE-consisting of the rich collection of businessman Francisco Capelo, the MUDE installed in May 2009 in the heart of Lisbon, close to Place du Commerce, where he invested 12 000 m2 of the former National Bank of Overseas Territories.
The permanent exhibition reveals an extract from funds deposited by the collector.
Thus, in a single room, bounded by what was to be the huge counter of the bank, just so elegant, unfolds a journey of fashion and design since the 1940s: a staging as simple as beautiful and conducive to walking.
After a presentation of tableware American Modern (1939) Russel Wright, a simple and colorful service aerodynamic lines, that changed at the time the habits of Americans, allowing to pass dishes from oven to table the 'exposition remonte the temps by décades, of jolis cintrés tailleurs of français couturiers to robe of Américain Tommy Hilfiger, in passant by celles of Courrèges and Paco Rabanne of years 1960 and celles (faussement) sobres of Yohji Yamamoto or (réellement ) dressed by Christian Lacroix.
Same spectrum of side design investigation: functional forms of the 1940s and 1950s, also not without inventiveness and sweetness (timeless Charlotte Perriand), until the return of natural materials in the 1990s, we pass by the gaiety 60s and 70s - round, color - then what looks like a trump card 80s, creations in this historic fresco appear to have aged considerably today.
In the center, the course zooms in the 1950s, to show, in addition to designs in furniture and decorative art, innovations in the field of Household: Light, easy to use, easy to handle and transport. We discover a lot of radios, toasters, mixers and press oranges, some models completely disappeared, others endlessly reinterpreted or republished since. But what strikes the most is to see how many of these objects were not only beautiful but also much less bulky than their contemporary equivalents.
