The biography of Carlos Paredes is on since the early years the Portuguese guitar - a family tradition started by his grandfather Gonçalo Paredes, great-uncle Manuel Paredes, his father and continued by him.

He inherited his father's estate a very rich musical and a work of research and experimentation and a talent accumulated genetic legacy of three or four generations.
Taking advantage of the technique from his father, summed up the running taking full advantage of the characteristics of the instrument and redirected it to a repertoire never before discussed or thought. He did so with an unusual artistic quality.
On the one hand inherits the father's musical talent, the other receives the cultural sensitivity of the mother who was instrumental in the statement of one's personality, the ideological options and steady approach to its people and its culture, clearly evident in his monumental musical work .
For years he worked at the Hospital of St. Joseph, and thus have joined the PCP - Portuguese Communist Party was arrested by the PIDE - International Police and the State Defense in 1958 for a period of 18 months. Due to confidentiality, was expelled from the civil service in March 1960, the year that begins "officially" his music career, by invitation in the preparation of the soundtrack for the short film "Rent Precious Metals" which consists in "Green Years" . He was accompanied by Fernando Alvim, who started here a long and fruitful collaboration of nearly 25 years.
It was reinstated in St. Joseph Hospital in October 74th, retiring from 12 years later. He rejected any possibility of a professional musician and devote himself to leave the job, believing in the difficulty of live music in Portugal. It's his own phrase "I love the music too to live it."

Only in 1990 saw him being awarded a grant of merit by the then Secretary of State for Culture, Santana Lopes, to two years later be awarded the Military Order of Santiago by the President, Mario Soares.
He married twice, the second of which with Cecilia de Mello in 1970 with whom he recorded the album "My Country". Was the father of six children, none with outstanding musical skills, interropemdo thus the cycle of the guitarists 'dynasty' Walls.
In 83 starts the collaboration with Luisa Amaro, classical guitarist. Walls have long wanted to plunge into the business classic, and it is with sobriety musical Luisa Amaro, who sees this possibility partly achieved. It also shares with her the rest of your life.
At the end of 93, was diagnosed with myelopathy which rendered him unable to return to play.
