Photographer's Note
This is almost an everyday sight from the embankments by the Tagus mouth. At the end of the day, the cruise ships leave Lisbon and use the night to reach the next port. Tomorrow it will be another day, another city, another country.
The tower on the right, houses the harbor pilots. These guys know the tricky ways on the river Tagus, better than they know their families. They hop in by the river mouth, drive the ships some 5 miles upstream and safely attach them to a pier, where several buses are already waiting for anxious and sleepy tourists.
