Photographer's Note

One of the iconic sight of the Portuguese Capital is certainly the Elevator da Gloria that connects the Praça dos Restauradores in downtown Lisbon with the humble-jumble quarter of Bairro Alto. Introduced in 1885 it was originally water powered before steam and finally electricity replaced the older systems.
