Weekly market in Almoçageme

Going through my recently discovered slides I did find some which I believe to be worth a posting here on TE. Being scans of old and neglected slides, the technical quality is not great but they show terrific moments of a great people. I hope you like them.

The pictures were taken 24 years ago at the Almoçageme roadside market, in Sintra. With all the current “politically (in)correct” EU regulations I am not sure if the local farmers can still make some cash by selling their fresh veggies along the road every Sunday. Certainly, our Portuguese TE friends can make some light on this issue.

Back in 1984 there was no problem at all and I remember having been there many times, especially in summer when the weather was perfect for a nice afternoon stroll around the mountain, enjoying the spectacular views and buying fresh produce for the week ahead.

For the farmers it was a good way of having extra money but it was too a very long day as you can see in the main posting. In WS a general view of the market.
