Photographer's Note

The Alqueva at sunset. The Alqueva is the biggest artificial lake in Europe and it was made a few years ago, in order to develop and supply water to the Alentejo region, which is one of the driest regions in the country. A short distance from this place, the Aldeia da Luz lies underwater. It was an old village that had to be abandoned by its inhabitants, who had to move to the a new village, built for them - a sad moment in the history of the region.
