Ruins of Sao Domingos,mines in the past were the largest mines copper pyrite and functioning of the Iberian Peninsula, Between 1857 and 1966 when they were abandoned by the English campany Mason & Barry, constituting thus the largest ecological attack in Portugal.
Pathway this geological environoment is impressive for its lunar landscape in which the acidic lakes salt of copper and iron gain tones of blue and red.
It is situated 17 km from Mertola in the left bank of Guadiana river in the Alentejo region.
