Photographer's Note

Vila Real de Santo Antonio is a little town (population of 20,000) situated at the estuary of the river Guadiana which is a natural border between Portugal and Spain. The town was founded after a large Lisbon earthquake and following tsunami. It was built in record time within half a year for fishermen from the region Algarve who lost their homes.
Today it is a nice tourist town with a beautiful beach of Praia Vila Real de Santo Antonio.

Former fishing village, people earned their living from fishing of sardines and tuna, so they set up a tuna monument near the port.
