Photographer's Note

"SENHORA DA GUIA" - Lady who guides on Your way of faith..(LITERALLY)
This is an image of one of the oldest chapel in the Iberia Peninsula near the sea built to guide fisherman and sailors.
It's a small chapel -- the round dome and the bell tower -- dated from 1059.

It's located at the mouth of the river Ave (foregound water line) and allows you to see through it the coastline to more than 5 km to the south and to the North it borders a small beach with the same name and next to the Fort of S. João Baptista that is also a property of public interest.

It is beautiful to watch the Sunset from the Chapel.

Only 80 years after, in 1139, during the Christian reconquest, the Kingdom of Portugal was founded from the county of Portucalense, born between the rivers Minho and Douro (Ave river is is halfway between these two rivers).
The stabilization of its borders in 1297 made Portugal the European country with the oldest borders.

I Hope you like
