Well, the title says it all. What we all need right now is hug - this world and the people in it are acting crazy. Of course when I say hug, i mean it symbolically, as we are suppose to be social distancing ourselves.

With Covid-19 taking over the World, 2020 will always be remembered for this Virus.

Yet having said that, its certainly preventable and containable - if people do what our leaders and the World Health Organization advise us to do, which is to stay inside and isolate. Yet people have a hard time with this, and or they are not taking this seriously enough.

Covid-19 has killed approx 14,500 people around the globe so far, and now in North America its hitting us hard and it hasn't reached its peak yet.

If you don't know already, I am a Nurse. I work and have worked in a local Hospital for the past 17 years. I have come to the point now where I expect to be infected, I expect to become sick, & I accept it. Every day I'm here on the front lines and honestly, it's only a matter of time before I contract it.

I see patients everyday getting sick and more acutely sick, and all staff here are wearing masks, but they only work so well, as tiny microscopic particles easily pass through the masks. These masks are designed to stop the large particles.

Decisions are being made by people above my pay grade, deciding who gets to use a Ventilator and who doesn't.

One such moral dilemma occurred when a 45 y/o drug addict, addicted to Crystal Meth, with several police arrests and police contacts, needed to be Ventilated due to Covid-19. Yet there was a senior man who also needed to be Ventilated, and he is an outstanding citizen, a positive contributer to society, yet because of his age, he does not receive a Ventilator and will most likely die. These are terrible decisions to make. How does one make that choice...but it's happening, here, in front of me, and its heartbreaking.

Please people, wash your hands routinely, stay indoors, call your family and friends to ask how they're feeling.

Remember the symptoms...persistent dry cough, shortness of breath, fever - those are the main symptoms that must be present. Along with redness around the outside of the eyes, similar to what you'd see if you have allergies.

Stay safe everyone, and remember there are positives...China hasn't had a new local case in several consecutive days, and Italy has had its number of cases lowering over the past 2 days...its a start.
