Photographer's Note

Porto, Portugal, October 31, 2017

Last October I took part in a one week's training course in Bulgaria with the goal of bringing together youth from all over Europe and learn how to develop projects within EU's Erasmus+ Youth in Action programme. Hopefully, it will bring youth organizations closer. We all have the same challenges, so why not solve issues together?

As the training course ended, my adventurous spirit took over. The EU was funding my travel. As travel directly to Bulgaria was relatively expensive, I asked in advance if I could do it like this:

Bulgaria - Bucharest, Romania (bus and train)
Bucharest, Romania - Lisbon, Portugal (flight)
Lisbon, Portugal - Porto, Portugal (flight)
Porto, Portugal - Luxembourg, Luxembourg (flight)
Luxembourg, Luxembourg - Charleroi, Belgium (bus)
Charleroi, Belgium - Copenhagen, Denmark (flight)
Copenhagen, Denmark - Bergen, Norway (flight)

...which actually ended up cheaper than the direct flight. So they gave me the green light. I also made a quick trip back and forth to Moldova from Romania. The country where even the locals can't think of anything exciting to do or nice places to see. Around 100,000 foreigners visit the country every year, which makes it by far the least visited country of Europe. Maybe that's why I liked it.

I had a whole day in Lisbon, then a whole night in Porto. I spent most of that night in the airport sleeping. However, I made a quick trip to the city in the middle of the night. The old part of town was extremely interesting! And completely empty. All in all, I would love to come back some day. Lisbon also surprised me positively. Both feature on my list of favourite cities in Europe.

I didn't bring a tripod, so I used a bridge to keep the camera somewhat steady.
