Photographer's Note

This is the tower of the Clérigos Church (Igreja dos Clérigos) rising above the city of Porto. Climbing its 240 steps you get the finest view of the city in northern Portugal. The tower was built between 1754 and 1763, after the construction of the Baroque church itself had been completed.

You may think this is an unusual picture for me. No people? But there are lots of people on the viewing platform. Look closely.

I couldn't post a picture like this without adding a photo of one of the views from above, which you can compare with this view from 1984.

PS In spite of what the clocks on the tower say, this photo was taken at 10:48 AM.
