Photographer's Note
The Fort of Peniche was built between 1557 and 1645, its space was used differently according to the needs and history of each era, and military square of vital strategic importance until 1897, under refugee Boers from South Africa at the beginning of the century. XX, residence of German and Austrian prisoners during the First World War and in more recent history was Portuguese prison policy of the Fascist state between 1934 and 1974 revolution, being famous for famous escape from the anti fascist António Dias Lourenco in January 1961 which subsequently led to a movie named "The Escape".
Now houses the Municipal Museum of Peniche and is of special relevance as an important document of a stage of local and national history.
