Castelo Mendo, is a village in the municipality of Almeida, Guarda district, is one of the historical villages of Portugal.
The village is located on a granite massif, at 756m above sea level and surrounded by a rustic landscape. Is a fortified village surrounded by walls with medieval six-port, in the maze of medieval streets dominated by the typical granite buildings with two floors, the ground floor to livestock, and the upper floor housing.
Its history dates back to the Bronze age and the Roman era and its historic heritage is very rich.
