Castelo Branco, district capital city, located on a plateau in the central region of the country, was populated by Romans and Arabs, having been conquered in the 12th century, by King D. The city has developed over the centuries, gaining more and more importance and status as a noble city, in its heritage we can see old manor houses, palaces, churches, and beautiful gardens.
