Photographer's Note

Regularly found statues of the 'King of Portugal'. This one is particularly graphic and seems out of the sidewalk.
Here are the references to the notes below:
'Alfonso I of Portugal', better known by his name Alphonse-Henri or Afonso Henriques (born in 1109, traditionally July 25 in Guimarães or Viseu, died Dec. 6
1185 in Coimbra) is a count and first king of Portugal from 1139 to his death.
The son of Henry of Burgundy and Teresa of León is first Count of Portugal from 1112 to 1139. He conquers-fought independence of the county against the Kingdom of Castile and León. He is the father of seven children Sancho I
er who succeeded him on the throne.
