Birds of a feather ..., a photo from Aveiro, North

Photographer's Note

On a beach near Aveiro, two birds hiding from july midday sun under an old fishing boat.
I had to crawl 15 min. in the sand to get close enough to those two birds, i wished I had some good tele instead of my little A20.
I reduced luminosity on the bright part of the image to get back some details and i applied an unsharp mask (too much ?).

very good picture Philippe..I liked the composition very much...very nice details..I think it could be a little more contrasted maybe..to enhance the feeling of a hot day so that these birds are sheltering in shade...sharpening looks very natural..

You build a good frame...
The protective shadow of the boat on the hot sand for the 2 little birds,
I like the messed tail of the back bird and the front one thats standing on the large rope.

En souriant je vous imagine rampant sur le sable pour capturer l'image de ces oiseaux. Le jeu en valait la chandelle... ces oiseaux ne semblent pas du tout incommodés par votre présence. Il est bien évident qu'ils se protègent du soleil sous ce bateau, cela fait une jolie composition avec en plus ce câble qui descend

I like the various textures, from the feathers of the birds to the sand to the rope. Yes, there is a little too much sharpening of the sunlit sand, which could have been done w/ levels sharpening. But the overall pix is strong.

Nice and unusual image! Pigeons, boats and sand are a very rare combination. Good use of sepia and post-processing controling the light. Also like the composition.

Yes, I feel that the image could be a bit softer. It would be more in the spirit of the elements portraited.

I love this image, so very sweet with the birds sheltered by the boat in black and white with distinct sepia tones. This is a wonderful composition with the boat and its shadow as well as the two ropes balancing the sand and rolling surf. First rate job Philippe.
