Photographer's Note
Another creature I managed to 'capture' whilst on holiday in Madeira.
Funchal on Madeira is a very attractive place, though very hilly. We visited Parque de Santa Catarina a little walk away from the centre, not too steep a walk and this butterfly posed very nicely and stayed still for some time. Not sure what kind it is no doubt someone will enlighten me.

Hi David,
That is a great butterfly shot. Unusual angle shows the wings from underside showing sunshine coming through. And the whole butterfly is in sharp focus against nice green background.

Hi David,i like a lot this kind of POV to show the other side of butterflies, and the backlight show the wing transparencies too! A perfect capture of a monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus), a milkweed butterfly (subfamily Danainae) in the family Nymphalidae, very well done! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello David,
A very nice and sharp photo of the butterfly seen from beneath. It is well seated on a twig with a perfectly blurred background and in a good light that shines through the wings.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi David
Did you offer it a free prize of one year's guaranteed supply of nectar if it sits still for a moment? They always immediately fly away whenever I approach. Good frontal view with nice dof. It's a monarch or wanderer, common in eastern Australia as well. Tfs!
