Photographer's Note

Câmara de Lobos.

Winston Churchill loved to paint landscapes of Câmara de Lobos (literally Bay of monk seals). This little cove is very photogenic.

Main fishing port on the island, the city is considered the capital of the Peixe-espada, saber-fish. This species lives in deep waters, so it is quite ugly, but it has an excellent taste. In Madeira, it is eaten accompanied by baked bananas. I confess that I was not really convinced before tasting. Result: the sweetness of the banana combines very well with this fine fish.
