Photographer's Note

January 13th, 100 meters elevation
We are at the 36 parallel, close to the 37 parallel. The cliff where Atlantis tomb stands is 1 km to the south, just a few hundred meters west from the coastline below the village.

We are close to the center of the Azores high for almost all the the last six weeks.
At protected coves (sea level) of this Southwesternmost European corner it was the 40 th consecutive day with maximum temperature above 20 C and minimum temperature above 14 C.
A series that ended January 14th, as the maximum temperature did not reach 16 C at the airport (elevation 100 m) and was 18 C at the port.

Explanation of why temperature drops not one but two degrees Celsius with each 100 m increase in elevation at these islands
