Sunset over Vila Franca do Campo county, from 750 m high above the Azores Riviera.
At this date and daytime it marks exactly the west.
A cloud causes the Vila Franca islet to appear to be part of the main island.

The climate
This frost free high plateau (and even more so its southern slopes) shines in luminous green all year round, at least when it's not covered by fog or clouds, which is the case in winter most of the time.
Contrast it with the Riviera (under 60 m elevation) with ZERO fog days yearly.
