The village that we sight to the deep are São Mateus Da Calheta a small village, here we have a small Bay Of Village Maria

São Mateus da Calheta is a lovely village situated in the southern coast of the wonderful Terceira Island, on the greenish Azores Archipelago.
Located nearby the World Heritage town, Angra do Heroísmo, the peaceful São Mateus da Calheta has graciously maintained alive its traditions of a calm rural and fishing place.
This is a charming village, rich in historical, architectonic, social and natural heritage, quite close to the rich Angra do Heroísmo and with a easy coast, which led to the many Pirate attacks throughout the centuries. Therefore, on the 16th century several coastal fortifications were built, such as the Maré, the Má Ferramenta, the Grande, the Biscoitinho, the Terreiro, the Barreiro, the Igreja and the Negrito Forts. Nowadays most of these fortifications either disappeared or are currently ruined.
São Mateus da Calheta is proud of its religious heritage with monnuments such as the Parish Church dated from 1911 and its ancestor, the Velha (Old) Church, situated next to the coast, nowadays in ruins, and also the many Chapels such as the Nossa Senhora da Candelária, São Tomás da Vila Nova, Nossa Senhora das Mercês, Santo António dos Milagres, São João Baptista, São Diogo and São Vicente and also the Nossa Senhora da Luz Chapel.
Also quite interesting are the Divine Holy Spirit and Cantinho Empires, dated from the 19th century.
Also quite important until the 1970’s was the Whale hunting inheritance in São Mateus da Calheta. In the coastal area of Negrito was once an important Whale hunting headquarters as well as a factory dedicated to the production of whale related products. From this heritage there are still some embarkations maintained in exhibition in the Botes Baleeiros House in the Fishing Dock, among other legacies.

Hola Gonçalo.
Muy bonita imagen de esta encantadora poblacion, su gran iglesia domina el conjunto del caserio, una bahia que se ve protegida por estos salientes de roca.
Me gusta el suave colorido y a pesar del dia nuboso, la imagen tiene magnifica nitidez y luminosidad.
Azores... un lugar poco conocido por mi, pero que puede ser un destino interesante...
Buen trabajo, me gusta.

el paisaje que nos muestras en este buen encuadre es muy agradable a la vista, y la imagen tiene una gran riqueza gráfica.
Me gusta cómo se destaca la iglesia y su bonita arquitectura en medio de las casas de la ciudad, mientras las rocas y el mar en el primer plano, y el cielo con las nubes en el fondo, dan una gran belleza a tu composicoón.
Hay una buena luminosidad en la foto, así como un buen nivel cromático.
Es un lugar muy hermoso, que podemos disfrutar gracias a tu buen trabajo.

Ola Goncalo,

Your notes emphasise the loveliness that we can see in your shot. There is a pleasing contrast between the natural and the man-made elements. And, the man-made part fits snuggly into the scene, neither overpowering nor dominating the small natural harbour.
Good dof and nicely saturated colours.

The distance between the bay and the bell towers is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the buildings of the village. The afternoon light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

gosto desta vista com o casario e a igreja que, apesar de estilo luso característico, parece ostentar um ar diferente do usual. linda paisagem urbana, boa luz, detalhes e nitidez.

A very lovely and beautiful village by the sea, Beautiful POV with some nice foreground of rocks and cliff reaching out to the water. Wide open view and moody sky. Excellent details and good clarity even on a cloudy day.
