Furnas is a civil parish in the municipality of Povoação on the island of São Miguel in the Portuguese Azores. The population in 2011 was 1,439,in an area of 34.43 km2.The parish is one of the largest in the island and in the Azores. It is located east of Lagoa and Ponta Delgada, west of Povoação and southeast of Ribeira Grande.rnrnPeople living here prefer to put pictures of colored tiles next to the entrance door of their house, depicting the patron saint of the house. The pictures are mostly made of 15/15 cm tiles, tiled in a size of about 30/60 cm.rnI made this compilation from these.rnrnI present the location of the pictures in the Workshop, on 2 photos.rnr

Hi Csaba,
I see you have visited Acores. I returned from Madeira a month ago and although I loved the island the wetaher was terrible so even though I am curious about these islands I suspect the weather meay be even less predictable there.
This is a nice series of typical Portuguese motif.

Hi Csaba,this collage is really a masterpiece, I did not know this custom of decorating the facades of houses with religious pictures like these.
