Photographer's Note
Facing East, or actually facing river Bug, bordering with Belarussia. This church, located in Kodeń, an old 16th century sanctuary is one of the least known in Poland, and one of the most beautifuly located. For me this place conveys the wolhe charm of Podlasie, or actually - eastern part of Poland.
Part which is so much different to the rest of the country.
....
For this post I decided to experiment a bit with the desaturation. I'm most curious how you find the "output". In the workshop - b/w version

Jerzy,
I think this is a really attractive shot..the reflection is great as is the sky...I ove the inclusion of the figures walking the path. It has a bit of a cinematic feel to it...there is a story somewhere here.

lovely framing. using the pathway to lead the eye to the main subject. I get a great sense of perspective and sense of space by including the bridge in the middle distance - good job

Nice work..
I like your concept of desaturation & really working well here.
Nice work.
J..I really find your charcters far in the frame & as good as nothing..I think not adding any much to frame but jusy to walk by..
I still feel you can work more better but sure It is long wait & attempt to get some one near focus ..as it is ODD way..
Do you see what I mean.
Well done anyway.

Hi Jerzy
I like the 's' curve of the path, complimented by the arch of the bridge. The minimalist color, reflections & good tonal range are superb. Tfs!

Bardzo piekne ujecie Kosciola w Kodniu. Bardzo mi sie podoba czarno-bialy kolor z niebieskim. Szkoda tylko ze troche ucielesz gore kosciola. Pozdrawiam. Beata

Very special treatment here (with your signature on it of course) something silvery in the air, real but also beyond real, craeting a dreamlike atmosphere where ghostlike poeple head off to church on a Sunday. Visually it is quite stunning and the compo is expertly claculated in my view. Very nice reflection in the stream.
Serious work, J,

Fajne odbicie w stawie i to zawiniecie piaszczystej drozki w ksztalcie "S". Ogolnie mi sie podoba.

Hello Jerzy,
Wonderful work. The idea of desaturation is also good. Great reflection and a very dramatic sky. But in my humble opinion, don't you think that if any human figure would be present there in the cured path infront then it would be much more better. Then the eye can follow the figure through the curved path and crossing the bridge would reach the palacial building. just an opinion.
Best regards

Wow! The first think I done here was taking this to my favorite. And that was after I seeing this at thumbnail size... It's incredible. Your PP is one of the most beautiful I've seen in my life. I don't want to say much more. I love this.

This is simply beautiful, Jerzy. Luis is right, nothing more to add. Perfect composition and your desaturation makes it look like a retouched image of 1950s. My grand-grandfather, a keen photographer (actually my roots from his side are from Krakov...), did something similar in 40s-50s, we still have some of his old photographs at home.

Hi Jerzy,
Well, maybe I'm the first to be a bit more negative about this post: On most of your images, you're always seeking the natural, the 'as-it-is' and 'in this moment' way of photography. I'm missing this a lot here. The desaturated colors don't look natural at all. Of course one can argue about if a photo can have an artistic touch in the color set, but speaking for me, it is not in synch with the very natural composition including the people walking through the photo etc. I like the b&w one much more!

Well Good Morning Jerzy. I like to stop by your gallery to see whats happening in Poland and what views you have on the other side of the world. Your experiment with saturation has yielded pleasing results I think. Selective color is always appealing to the senses. Add to that the wonderful sense of perspective with the pathway in this frame. A wonderful scene indeed..thans for sharing!

Hi Jerzy
Beautiful pic with lots of atmosphere. you've picked the right time & day.
I actually prefer your BW version, which I think has stronger contrasts and 'feeling'. Imho, Color version is also nice but not as powerful as BW. Very enjoyable pic.

I have to say that I much prefer the black and white version, although this one does have a very interesting quality to it.
I suppose I must be a bit of a traditionalist.
The composition is really excellent, and you've created a wonderfully atmospheric image.

Cudowna sprawa. Pod górkę do fary, krętą ścieżką - te pochylone postacie pod ciemnymi chmurami pnące sięku białym murom klasztaru. Wspaniałe te kolorki spłowiałe jak ze starej farbowanej fotografi. Nic tylko się zapatrzyć. Pozdrawiam T.

Hey Jerzy!
A very nice post! My heart goes for the partial desaturated version - this techniques adds to the feeling and atmosphere of "fading away", combined well with your note and the elderly men and woman passing by, approaching the bridge...
Well taken with good balanced composition!
Well done!

Hi Jerzy,
I like this slightly desaturated version, but my heart beats for the b/w in the workshop. Partially because of higher contrasts and partially because of less disturbing people dresses. Indeed, I think that the persons in b/w are better story telling subjects here, because I see only shapes (or even silhouettes) that is more dramatic. Well, that only my opinion, don't know about the others.
Have a nice day,
Tomi

Hi Jerzy,
The desaturated colours play here a very important role sa they give your photo a very nice mood and atmosphere. The composition is very nicely made with the interesting arghitecture of the church and it's reflection on water, the bridge and the curved way to it creating nice lines. The human elements always add an important touch to the photo and this one is no exception.
Cheers.

Serwus Jurek !
Zaskoczyles quasi-landszaftem. Ale pietno swoje odcisnales, 80% z nas tu by pewnie nasycilo zielenie na maxa (w tym ja), a Ty sobie zarty robisz i przechodzisz w czarno-biale. Zazdroszcze inwencji i przekonania do eskperymentow. Zdjecie, ktore trudno ominac.

Jerzy,
A very well composed shot. The reflection the path leading you in. I really do like the effect here very dreamy and some what other worldy. The Black and white has a completely different feel far more sinister especially with that menacing looking sky. Great work as always.

Hi Jerzy. I think I like the colour one best as it has a surreal quality. Wonderful composition with the curvy path and bridge leading to the main subject. I think the people on the path add a counterpoint also. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jerzy,
An impressive shot of tis picturesque church. Although the B&W is well done and certainly can stand on its own as a photo very well, this shot is superior. You have obtained a painterly watercolour effect with the desaturation, which is intriguing and worthy of further experimentation. The winding path on the right captures the eye, the reflection is alluring, and the people walking toward and on the bridge warm and enhance. Its almost a storybook scene or a shot from a movie set. First rate, Jerzy.

The stormy sky create a nice atmosphere here.
But what I like most here are the desaturated colours.

Indeed a marvellous moody shot by the soft focus enhancing the people walking along the curving road towards the bridge going to the church, a remarkable fine finishing, the B&W is very good too thanks to the good framing of all the elements for eyetravelling.

Hi Jerzy,
lovely 'old fashioned' shot with some fine muted colours. The reflection is almost abstract, the figures give it scale and all set in front of that threatening sky. A fine capture, well done.

And the "output" of your experiment is gladly appreciated !!! Bardzo, ale to bardzo ladna kompozycja, ujmujaca atmosfera, kolorystycznie wyglada mistycznie, dobra lokalizacja i punkt widzenia obiektu.
