Town hall in Poznan
The first town hall was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. It was a Gothic, modest building. In the years 1550 to 1560 it has been transformed into a magnificent residence of the city authorities. Despite repeated destructions, wars and fires, the building retains its Renaissance appearance until today.
On the central tower is visible a clock face, above it is one of the biggest attractions of Poznan: mechanism of two goats which butt together every day at noon.
The clock was installed in 1551, in 1675 a lightning destroyed the mechanism, which was later rebuilt and now is a tourist attraction with the trumpet call Poznan played from the tower of the town hall.
