Photographer's Note

Sunset; View a the ruins of Torpedowaffenplatz Gothenhafen – Hexengrund. An old military test facility built by German army in April 1942.
This is only small part of military base which was built during WWII.
The main building is a few stories high, it had two torpedo launch shafts. It was a U shaped building with a fire control and observation tower. Torpedoes were fired without explosives and then caught in a net. The Germans relied on Italian and Japanese aerial torpedoes at the beginning of WWII. Both the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe had none of these weapons. At Hexengrund the Germans developed their own aerial torpedoes. These were not only used by aircrafts, but launched from U-Boats as well.
