Photographer's Note

Wooden shrineof St. Mary Magdalene in the village of Włóki. I found this little church on the way between Bydgoszcz and Świecie. The church – located on a small hill, in the middle of the village – was built in 1699, in the place of a medieval temple erected by the Cistercians. The temple was built in the Baroque style, all made of wood in a log construction. The shrine has a stylish uniform baroque interior. The altar dates from the 19th century. In the central part of the altar there is an image of the Mother of God with the Child, from the second half of the 19th century. There is also an antique organ made in the Baroque style by an unknown author in 1733. At present, in a church that has excellent acoustic conditions. Concerts of organ and chamber music take place here, during which there are artists who are associated with the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz.
