Old Town Hall II

When I posted this photo of the western façade of the Old Town Hall in Wrocław, I already promised that I would show the more famous and more beautiful eastern façade as well, so here it is, seen in the bright morning light of the next day. The Old Town Hall (Stary Ratusz) is one of the best-known landmarks in the city. It is a Gothic building from the 13th century. It is located in the centre of Market Square (Rynek we Wrocławiu).

Hej Lars,
Jag minns den här platsen väl, inte minst för den vansinnigt fula byggnaden snett bakom det praktfulla gamla stadshuset. Jag undrade hur stadens ledning på 60–70-talet kunde tillåta ett sådant stilbrott. Annars är allting fint och ljuset och färgerna är fantastiska.

curious as the building looks like a collage of many styles and adornments, at same time beautiful and with not so much symmetry and order.. very beautiful image.

yes, i remember this view very well indeed. Its one of the classic Post card shots from this city. Did you get any at blue hour or black hour? I had so much fun here. beautiful day for photos, bright blue sky, clouds, ample lighting, looks fine to me. cheers

Hello Lars,

Yes, this needs to be captured in good light, to reveal, as you have done, the beauty of the decorations, particularly those above eye-level!
I like how you have used the couple in the f/g but I think I would have cloned out the bin as it draws attention in a different direction. (If you retain the bin, the couple need to go!)

beautiful presentation of this photogenic structure.
What I found quite interesting is that the same building photographed from the other side looks so completely different. I mean the view which you shoed before. It would be hard to guess that it its the same building.
Such a very colorful presentation here on a great weather day!
Yes we have missed each other by a bit only, especially that I spent a couple of days near Wroclaw as well.

Sometimes I wish our townhall to look so elegant and old-styled, lars.
Took this from a fair distant POV to include a whole building and the surrounding within the frame, also excellent light enable this great outcome.

Goedenavond Lars,

Uw Poolse reis heeft meerdere mooie foto opgeleverd.
Deze foto is opnieuw een parel van architectuur.
Polen was tijdens and na de oorlog verlamt but toch er weer bovenop gekomen
Misschien moet nog wel zaken geburen om op het echte westers niveau te komen.
Mooi foto werk, scherp en goed van kleur.

The red brick buildings and the yellow façade of the building at right contrast superbly with the blue sky to give a nice warm cold colour contrast. Good sharpness and framing too. Tfs!

The Wroclaw City Hall building is wonderful, the upper part of it has a great charm, with those façade finials and the different towers. the watch is another added value

Maybe this sumptuous building escaped from Hitler's madness or rather was refurbished, nevertheless it cuts a wonderful figure in the plaza especially when so beautifully illuminated.
