Triskaidekaphobia, a photo from Dolnoslaskie, West

Photographer's Note

Today is the 13th day of the month, many people think it is an unlucky number (not all countries). I have taken this photo in the Municipal Stadium in Wrocław, on the day after the local football team lost the match. :(

Triskaidekaphobia (from Greek tris meaning "3", kai meaning "and", deka meaning "10" and phobos meaning "fear" or "morbid fear") is fear of the number 13 and avoidance to use it; it is a superstition and related to a specific fear of Friday the 13th, called paraskevidekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia (after Frigg, the Norse goddess Friday is named after in English).

Hello Ryszard,
A very apt photo for the 13th day post! Nice use of shallow depth of field and the tight crop to exclude all distractions and focus on the unlucky 13.We lived in Asia for many years and there the number 4 is the unlucky one and so most buildings are built without the number 4, 14, 24 which makes riding in the lifts quite interesting as those floors just don't exist! There are however plenty of 13th floors!

This is an imaginative picture around the number '13'. The shallow DOF and the curve of the disappearing white number plates is very abstract. A very appropriate photo for Friday 13th and your note was very interesting too.

I've always been in the belief that stadiums make for excellent subjects, but most people ignore them.
shots like this one are fun to take, and it show's us how you're using your photographic eyes and sense.
