Photographer's Note

Boleslawiec is a town in Lower Silesia on the river Bobr. From the late 15th century Boleslawiec is known as the town of ceramics. The area around Boleslawiec is rich in clays suited to the potter's wheel. In the 16th century the town became a monopolist in the production of potteries in Lower Silesia and today produces ceramics with characteristic decoration.

This tenement house in the photo is decorated with beautiful ceramic tiles produced in Boleslawiec.
