Photographer's Note

Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue (Polish: Tatrzańskie Ochotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe (TOPR)) is a partially volunteer and non-profit Mountain rescue organization in Poland, rescuing stranded mountain climbers, tourists, and others in need of rescue while in the polish Tatra mountains. It is one of the oldest mountain rescue associations in the world.

TOPR as one of the few in the world does not require a mountain insurance policy and does not charge payment for the rescue./wiki/

I like the stark sunlight here, which brought out the contrasts between the snow and the shady mountains very well. Both the helicopter and the lonely person are very good inclusions to the composition.

Hello Piotr,
Just in case I should get lost in the Polish mountains it's good to know that TOPR will save me ;-). But this is very unlikely to happen. But you were lucky to have their helicopter in your photo. It adds an interesting object to the beautiful scenery, and also a piece of bright colour, and of course it creates a dramatic atmosphere. The person near the lower corner seems to be all right and not in need of being rescued.

Cześc Piotrze, mam nadzieję, że tym razem to nie był jakiś groźny wypadek. Ludzie bywają tak nieostrożni, narazając również innych na niebezpieczeństwo. Dla lekkomyslnych turystów powinny być jakieś kary pieniężne albo ubezpieczenie obowiązkowe. Ale zdjęcie z tym helikopterem wyszło wspaniale. Pogoda fantastyczne, piękna zima tej wiosny. Ta mała sylwetka turysty w rogu przyciąga wzrok.

The presence of the helicopter has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details of the mountain. The reflection of the light on the snow has a good effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

A nicely caught the flight, the scenery is awesome and scaled with the lone climber on the FG slope.

Hello Piotr,
I like very much the point of view with the mountain ridge traversing the frame in a diagonal creating a strong composition. The helicopter is well positioned and makes a good counterpoint. Lights, colours and clarity are all very good.

Witaj Piotr,

Although the weather was benign when this was taken, these mountains can generate their own weather and conditions can quickly turn bad, necessitating the need for search and rescue helicopters. The hiker bottom left adds scale. Perfect sharpness and light contrasts. Tfs!
