Amazing View, a photo from Malopolskie, East

Photographer's Note

Because nobody belives me (among my friends :-) that this photo is real. I'd like to write it clear: THIS IS REAL PHOTO, the only corrections which I've made to this photo are: making the lower part of composition lighter - to show details of the buildings and churches, and increasing the contrast on the upper part of composition (sky, clouds and mountains) to make the mountain range better visible...

12th May 2007, it was the luckiest photo-day of this year so far :-))) On this photo you can see the former residence of Polish kings - Wawel Castle in Krakow. But there's one exeptcional thing here - the background. Behind the highest tower (named Clock Tower) Tatra Mountains are visible !!! (this is the highest part of Western Carpathians) The distance between castle and mountain range in the straight line = 95 kilometers.

I wish I could have Nikkor AF-S 600mm f/4D IF-ED II instead of my Nikkor 18-200 ;-P

The last time when I've seen Tatra Mountains FROM KRAKOW was in... 1987. The is very unique situation because of the weather (clouds, fogs, etc.) or pollution.

Hello Pawel,
You did have very good luck, in getting the shot so very far into the distance.
Very sharp fine details in the foreground church and buildings.
One day I would love to see Krakow. I have heard so much about the City.

Imponent mountains with the churches and the houses of the ancient town that break the tones of grey. Regards to Tatra Mountains, Donatella

Jak mieszkam w Krakowie, tak takiego cuda nie widzialem.. Najstarsi kronikarze o tym pisali, ze "ponoc" da sie to zobaczyc.. No i udowodniles! Pieknie sie to komponuje. Rewelacja!

Pawel, I believe you and it is beautiful. It really puts the buildings in context with the country side. Great color and dof, great shot.
