Photographer's Note

In Forollhogna National Park you can find many lakes of different size. Most of them are located in higher altitudes well above the tree line, but you can also find some in the valley - this is one of them.

All together you can find more than 100 lakes that carry fish - mostly mountain trout - in the NP. Some of them are easily accessible, others are more remotely located but the terrain is nice for easy trekking.

As always when it comes to fishing - size matters! And Forollhogna NP can offer trout as good as anywhere else, the latest recording is a trout of 4 kilo from 2004 but the record is 8,4 kilo from 1939. The normal size however is 500-1000 g, ideal for a quick meal by the lakeside!

The largest lake in the area is Lake Forollsjøen, located in the lap of Mt Forollhogna. This lake also carries the largest trout, but as the seasoned angler will know - the largest ones are also the hardest to catch...
