Photographer's Note

Hell is a small village of 352 people in Stjordal, Norway. The name has made the village somewhat of a minor tourist attraction. I don't exactly remember what made me go to Hell (and back). It must have been my travel bible at the time - the enormously popular "Let's Go Europe" among the backpackers. You could keep your return train ticket to Hell as a souvenir, and have your passport stamped at the train station in Hell. I thought that was cool.

Mona Grundt, Miss Universe 1990, is from somewhere near Hell. The "Contestant from Hell" made Hell world famous during the competition for the title. And thanks to pablominto, today Hell is also well known for the Hell Blues Festival.

Some pieces of wooden debris & twigs washed ashore makes the foreground a little bit messy. A lot of time was spent on this image to meticulously clean up the dirt, noise & other impurities picked up by the scanning machine. Hope you will enjoy the tranquility of Trondheimsfjorden, Hell.

See WS for a cooler color variation.

PS: Hell means overhanging cliff or cave for shelter in the Old Norse language.
