Photographer's Note

On the way to the Nigardsbreen Glacier, we had strange weather, one moment blue sky and sunny, the next moment threatening dark clouds, or the combination of both, like now.

The Nigardsbreen Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers, where you can peer into the blue ice at very close range.
When you drive up the scenic valley of Jostedalen, you will end up at the Breheimsenteret - the national park centre.

From this centre it is a short drive up to the car park, and from there you can either walk along the lake up to the glacier itself or take the boat across the lake (only in summer).

Even at this low altitude of close to 300 metres above sea level, you get the feeling that you are in an alpine, even polar environment between the lake and the glacier tongue.
