Photographer's Note
Helleren in Jøssingfjord is a cultural monument in Jøssingfjord in Sokndal municipality in Rogaland, subject to the Dalane Folkemuseum. Here are archaeological tracks after settlement since the Stone Age. The cultural monument is located below a lake that is formed by a protruding mountain at the far end of Jøssingfjorden. With its 60 meters in length, this is one of the largest of its kind in Norway. There have been several houses under this one, but today there are only two wooden houses left. The two houses are without roof because they are protected by the Helleren. The buildings originate from the 19th century, but parts of the buildings can be a lot older. Probably there has been a permanent settlement during the Heller from the 16th century.
