Photographer's Note

The Lofoten Islands are the soul of Northern Norway. It is a place of incredible charm, with glacier-carved peaks and picturesque fishing villages with typical Norwegian architecture : colourful wood houses as you can see on the picture. Although cod stocks have diminished dramatically in recent years, fishing still vies with tourism as Lofoten’s largest industry.

Henningsvear is a still active fishing village, perched at the end of a thin promontory. It is the region largest and most active fishing port, with as many pleasure boats as fishing boats. The village is called “Venice of the Lofoten”.
