Kjerringøy Handelssted
Our friends took us to an open-air museum on Kjerringøy, some 40 km north from Bodø. This photo is taken from inside one part of the museum, a barn. The view was so lovely, I couldn’t avoid another “postcard”... ;)
Kjerringøy trading post - Kjerringøy handelssted - is an open-air museum at Kjerringøy in Nordland, Norway. It is operated as part of the Nordland Museum of cultural history.
Kjerringøy trading post was established in the late 1700s. It traded over a large area, and was licensed to provide accommodation for travelers. Through the buying and selling of fish and fish products is gradually became an affluent trading post. The Kjerringøy merchants bought fish in Lofoten and elsewhere in Nordland, dried or salted the fish and sold it in Bergen and other places. The ships used to transport the goods where often single masted open cargo sailing ships, such as the Anna Karoline. The ships returned with foodstuffs, fishing gear and other equipment, which they sold in their local store, or in the Lofoten islands.

Bonjour Viviane,
It is such a stunning view from this window, which you included really well in the foreground. The mountain peaks in the distance look so elegant and the sunlight rendered the natural colours so beautiful.

Hi Viviane,
Old window opening is a fascinating frame for this seaside view. Rough snowy mountains look so typical for Norway. Lovely weather and fresh early summer nature.

Hello Viviane,
We feel to be with you, sharing the view through the barn window.
Before we share the view though, it is interesting to note the sunlight and shadows on the frame.
I would imagine that you lingered here quite a while!
The view is utterly beautiful, to be enjoyed right from the f/g to the snow-capped mountains, so wild and unspoilt.
You were very fortunate with the weather, too.
I think we will have to coincide our trips in future, to ensure the best of the weather!!!
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)
