Photographer's Note

Aranafection.
There are buildings in modern architecture that does not exist by themselves.
You can enter such buildings and when you are inside it is just like every building.
But before you go inside you have the discover this building in its surrounding and that is rather difficult for the façade of this kind of buildings is made of reflecting glass and therefore the building looks very much like the other buildings its surrounding.
Fortunately, the reflection is often distorted and so you can recognize the building as a independent building.
The reflections are often very fascinating and gives us an impressionistic or even expressionistic view of the neighbourhood.
This picture is a new reflection of the Amsterdam Arena in another building. You can notice the totally different kind of reflection if you compare this picture with my upload from 8 february

I like both the bottom part, very colorfull, and the top part for the reflexion of the top of the arena, which makes like a crown around the building.
All the best,

by chance we´re in the same mood tonite, Rob, that is, very much into reflections ;)
lovely piece of abstract art. colors are excellent and finally we find a use for this "lazy architecture" (as i call buildings made in steel and glass), and it really works.
(i am still looking for a blue lost object to add to your theme!)

Hi Rob - this one of the best reflection photos you've posted, if not the best, so cubic, varied and colourful, it's proof that modern architecture can be photogenic.

Hi Rob. With that heavy distortion you have the feel of a surreal modern painting that I like quite a bit. I have never seen a reflection shot like this. Well seen Rob!

It so true everything you wrote about this work on the note guideline. The beauty of a building starts outside... :-)
On this photograph, you got great reflections.... making us to imaging the final result of this reflection.

Great shot, Rob. And great note. I totally agree with you on this favorite theme of yours ;) These kind of mirror façades can be quite fascinating by the diferent images they create everyday. Fantastic abstract paintingyou did here. Not you, the mirror. But it was you that captured it. And composed it. It's like a landscape, with that snowcapped mountain over the buildings... ;-) Beautiful!

Dag Rob,

Taking into account the poor performance of Ajax in European competitions this year, maybe this is how the players see the stadium.

Hi Rob,
Well, this seemingly impressionistic scene is a winner any way you describe it. The waves of colour, the divided panels, and the other incidental lines and graphism all contribute to the high impact. The token tree on the left is like an offering, a reminder that nature is still present. This is first rate, Rob.

Hello Rob,
Great abstractions are created!
The window panes are bending to twist the reflection and we have no control whatsoever, it is all a function of inside and outside pressure...
Well framed scenery!

Your love of reflections has produced some excellent abstract art and I think this is one of your finest ones. There is so much to try and identify. I also like the inclusion of the pieces of "reality" in the form of the tree and lamps, which are a bit of a surprise as they are not immediately noticeable.

Hi Rob,
wonderful stained glass work! ...and also an abstract art ;)) Yes, you can find this kind of buildings in strangest parts of old towns... like architects use to say: to revaluate the historic value of the area... but I really don't like this kind of buildings in historic towns, they ruin all the feeling of the past. Yes, that's my poor opinion... and there's more... if the architects and politicians (on the power at the time) ruin the skyline of the historic town by building this kind of things in the peripheria why they have to do it also in the centers. No, I'm not a purist and against the progress, but... And why we have the laws on perserving the historic look... example: if I would like to change only a single window (make it biger for 10 cm) on the house in my little town I should obtain many permissions and it would take more than 6 months to have it... but to build such a monster they spend less than that.
Ohhhh... such a release. I just feel better, I really got to tell this to somebody. I hope you don't mind ;)))

Hi Rob,
Magnificent shot. I love the reflections of all the colours and the funny shapes and forms. It very artistic and more of artwork than a photo. I am very impressed that all the small squares fit perfectly into the frame. This is usually very difficult. An excellent work!

Hi Rob,
For sure a nice reflection subject, the fact the reflected facade is very colorful makes it a good one, it gets also very modern thanks to the grid.

That's a great composition and you played with the reflection to produce a very special kind of graphism. The light was great and is perfectly managed and it allows you to play also with flashy colors.

Hallo Rob,
