Photographer's Note

I hadn't really realised that windmills had sails, just like boats, and that these sails had to be gotten down every evening (at least on this windmill!). This picture was taken during the TE meeting in Rotterdam, in the old district of Delfshaven. I was surprised to see a man carefully rolling the sails, one by one, at the end of the afternoon, with moves and know-how not very far from those of the sailors.

In the WS, I put another shot, a very classical one, taken during the Spido trip, that shows this windmill as seen from the Maas.
