Photographer's Note

A new winter scene in our village, Bruinisse, with an important fishing harbour, situated in the province of Zeeland.

Zeeland is situated in the south west of The Netherlands, limited by

Belgium in the south
The North Sea in the west
The province of Brabant in the east and
The province of South-Holland in the north.

The province is divided in Flanders, formed by former islands in the Scheldt estuary. The main islands are Walcheren, North Beveland, South Beveland, Tholen most east, and * Schouwen-Duivenland where we live.

* The Island called Schouwen-Duiveland, in Zeeland isn't quite an island anymore as it is connected to others with:

TheBrouwersdam in the North
The Grevelingendam in the East
The 5km long Zeelandbridge in the South and
The Oosterscheldedam, (Eastern Scheldt storm-surge barrier) in the West.

All those dams and bridges are part of the Delta Works.
