Photographer's Note

In the large square called Vrijthof in the Dutch city of Maastricht five colourful statues of musicians are found in one corner. They were made in 1993 by Hans van Wetering and are called 't Zaat Hermenieke to commemorate the musicians that used to gather here to celebrate the end of the carnival.

Behind the group of sculptures you see the Basilica of Saint Servatius (Sint Servaas) built during the 11th and 12th centuries.
