Photographer's Note

In my opinion Rotterdam is not a pretty city. Maybe I was unlucky because I was there on business, the weather was unpleasant (February) and the sky overcast most of the time.

But if not pretty, Rotterdam surely is a treasure to the curious photographer. There are thousands of details on it’s streets and channels. The architecture goes from medieval to ultra modern, and there is a surprise behind each corner.

Unfortunately I had only my little compact with me, and several photos are only souvenirs.

This picture shows only a piece of the set of Cube Houses, Kubuswoningen, designed by Piet Blom and built in 1984. When we first look at them one can hardly believe in what we are seeing, and after the first shock we start wondering how can people actualy live inside those things.
