Photographer's Note
Schiedam
Today a new cityscape: this picture shows a part of the town Schiedam in the province Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands, that I visited in August last year.
The photo gives a view over de Lange Haven (Long Harbour) in the centre of the town.
Schiedam is located near the city of Rotterdam and has about 75,000 citizens. It is located at the rivers Schie and Nieuwe Maas. The town is famous for the highest windmills in the world.
The mill you can see in this photo is, if I'm not mistaken, Korenmolen de Walvisch (Corn-Mill the Whale). The little tower is part of de Havenkerk (Harbour-Church).
Hope you like it. :-)

Olá Lars, a favorite already, before the critics? ;-)
This is a beautiful typical image from Neatherlands, as far as I know about it. If it wasn't that mill, this could be Amsterdam...I hope that you don't get upset by this. I know much people from your country don't like the comparison with Amsterdam...
The framing is excellent and my eyes jump from the boats, to the mill and church tower, but its those boats that attract me more. Really beautiful urban scenery, very well captured!
Groet,
Ricardo

This one is like an essence of Dutchness : a canal, some old barges and a windmill in the background. Perhaps a bit shaded and thus a bit dark on the left side, but a beautifull image and an excellent point of view.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hi Lars. You have such a good bright and clear shot here. I think the light helped a good bit. I like that we have all the classical things one would expect in the Netherlands without anything modern. Beautiful shot Lars!

Dag Lars,
Groeten,
John

Very good quality with a pleasant light. The tree on the left works perfectly to frame the image and the perspective view carries our eye through the scene nicely. All the elements tell us clearly that this is Holland.

Bonjour Lars,
Daniel.

The size of these canal boats is quite unexpected and is really clearly shown by their position in front of the houses here
I love the PoV, the composition and the colours

Hi Lars,
Excellent shot. The composition is perfect with the wind-mill, the houses, the river and the boats. If it was not for the cars and if you would have made it B& W it could have been taken a hundred years ago. Have a nice evening.
Cheers,
Ulf

Fijn weekend,

Hi Lars - I like the unusual combination of windmills in an urban setting, having the 3 typically dutch subjects in one: the mill, the canal, and the dark brick buildings.

Hoi Lars,
Mooie foto.

Hello Lars,
This is a pleasant canal photo containing those old boats with character. They remind me of barges I used to see in Turkey when i was young.
