Photographer's Note

Aboard the bisquine "La Cancalaise", we had left the Sail 2005 Festival in Amsterdam early in the morning, and after going through the lock in IJmuiden, enjoyed a wonderful day of sailing along the Dutch coast. Good sea, fair wind, wonderful boat... Taking the helm in these conditions is a great pleasure. By the end of the afternoon, we were somewhere between Scheveningen and the entrance to Rotterdam, and the cargo concentration was becoming quite high!

I classified this picture in "Daily life" since for the next 6 days, this boat became our world. We sailed during the nights and had to organise watches (3 watches of 4 hours), both for sailing and for cooking/washing up. Pretty quickly your rythm change, you sleep whenever you need to and move in pace with the boat. A wonderful experience.

(PS : the bald man wasn't supposed to be on the picture but he got up just as I pressed the shutter...).
