Photographer's Note

This is the third and the last pic of the mini-mini QM2 series. She’s pictured here while leaving port as a Spido harbour-tour ship is passing by. The passengers of both ships are looking at each other, sizing each other up in amazement.

The contrast between the curved and post-modern design of the Spido and the more or less ‘transatlantic’ design of the Queen Mary 2 is very noticeable. When we look closer though we can see that the design of the QM2 is certainly not ‘classic’ transatlantic. What we see here are not the passenger decks with its big public spaces, loaded with steamer chairs etc but a neat row of separated balconies, belonging to individual ‘apartments’. The evolving ‘individualized’ society is even noticeable in the design of ships ;-).
