Photographer's Note

Filling the whole field and the whole frame, a double coloured tulip. Whilst the striking colours of the flowering tulip bulbs are a typical sight in Holland during the spring, they of course originated from Turkey. Originally growing wild in the valleys of the Tian Shan Mountains, tulips were cultivated in Constantinople as early as 1055.
