Photographer's Note
Canal in Leiden
I have many more pictures from Portugal, but I have also recently bought a new camera, so last week I visited two Dutch cities to take some new photos with it. One of these cities was Leiden, located in the province of Zuid-Holland. It is best-known as the home of Leiden University, the oldest in The Netherlands (1575), and the birthplace of Rembrandt van Rijn. These canal houses are found along Oude Vest, not far from De Lakenhal museum.

Goedenavond Lars,
Ik zie veel gelijkenissen met Gent
Het water en de oude huizen langs de kade.
Uw hoek keuze bepaald de diepte en tevens het perspectief.
Mooie presentatie met een goede wolken hemel.
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit een warm Vlaanderen,
John

Hej Lars,
Gert

Typical Dutch architecture, different from what we see in Amsterdam, Lars. The only reason thought about this difference is the width of the canal.
Looks a much more "roomy" town, in fact, nevr been there. Nice outcome on picture, enjoy the new camera.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Lars,
This is a beautiful row of buildings. Each one is a bit different, but they all blend together nicely to create an attractive scene. I especially like the one with the elaborate section on top and the Dutch flag in front. Take care!

Hallo Lars,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Lars,I am very curious about your new camera, I had also considered buying an RX but none of them have GPS and it doesn't seem the best for photographing butterflies up close. However, here she behaved very well, the view is really excellent. Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hej Lars,
So Amsterdam is not the only Dutch city with nice canals! Good sharpness and well composed using the rule of thirds. The waterfront houses have attractive facades. Tfs!

Hello Lars,
How exciting to have a new camera!
It will be fun learning the new controls and finding out about its performances.
You look to have mastered the use of the camera.
This is a fine exposure, giving pin-sharp details with good colours. Of course, the well chosen viewpoint, giving a fine sense of perspective, is down to you!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Lars, a lovely variety of building styles yet recognisable as from the Netherlands.
A diagonal line that leads us towards the bridge. Plenty of bicycles to give us a clue as to where you are!
A new camera, you seem to have mastered it.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Lars,
Ironically I decided to follow your example and post some photos from Portugal as well.
Yes it is always nice to post some fresh photos as well even though they may feel to us less international and more local. But I suppose to others they are equally international and interesting.
Great architecture here but most importantly captured in a great light which well emphasizes the beauty of the place.
It looks like the new camera makes a great job!

Hi Lars.
Excellent composition with this line of beautiful facades that look to the canal, each of the buildings is different, but they form a beautiful, very harmonized line.
A magnificent range of colors, in very attractive tones.
Good brightness and sharpness management.
Very well done. Love it.
Have a great day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Lars,
Congrats on your new camera. In Turkish we say, "güle güle kullan!" ("use laughingly" - probably meaning "I wish you happiness with it").
A fine photo with your new camera!
Regards,
MT
