Photographer's Note

Yesterday I took a day off from work and made a bicyle trip with my brother. A great opportunity to take some pictures of the beautiful region I moved to in August this year! Moreover yesterday the weather was very unstable with mostly sunshine but with rain- and snowshowers in between. This however also meant gorgeous skies!

We left Watervliet at 3:30 in the afternoon, drove through polders, the village of Philippine, the Braakman-reserve before reaching the Westerschelde. Obviously it had already gone dark when we got back home.

This picture is taken just outside Philippine, when suddenly we saw these V-shaped "squadrons" of (I guess) geese flying over us, in the sky already in evening colours. They were definitely flying northwards but as I am not an ornithologist I do not know exactly what that means. Anyway, it was a beautiful moment.

Also visible on the picture are the typical dikes you find everywhere in the region, with the tree rows planted on them. The dikes have a protective function yet they are also very popular with photographers.
